Polls
As of June 5, soybean planting progress comes in at ~88% which is up 4% from the USDA report this past Monday and 8% ahead of the 5-year average. Despite continued progress nationally, areas of the southern U.S. are still falling victim to heavy rainfall.
I've added a few additional maps from NOAA and the National Weather Service this week to show just how wet it has been. The first is a 60-day look at precipitation across Kansas, southern Missouri, Arkansas and Tennessee. Most of the soy acres exist in pockets, but it's easy to see why progress has been hampered. Similarly, southern portions of the Ohio River Valley are well above average for rainfall over the previous 7-10 day stretch extending all the way into western Pennsylvania.
Thats a wrap on this year's planting progress polls. Thanks to all the members who have contributed over the last six weeks. We'll be back soon with additional pest and in-season polls.
