I'm a 39 year old who worked for 10 years on an irrigated and non-irrigated farm on the KS/CO border. About three years ago I was presented with the opportunity to move back to where I'm originally from in west central Illinois and work with a farmer who said he was looking to retire. We had an partnership agreement to begin buying out his operation. Within the last month it became apparent that we had different visions and goals of how things looked in the future, and along with some other interpersonal things, I decided to end the partnership. Now I'm sitting here with not much land and not much equipment trying to figure out what the future looks like. I've interviewed with the local ag retailers for operator positions, and I'm not opposed to it, but I would like to see what else is out there. I'm open to going back to being an employee on an operation. I don't want to work on an operation where I am one of twenty employees that covers six counties, but I also have to make enough to be able to support my family. Most of my experience is with red equipment, and I have a class A CDL. Having farmed ground myself, I understand the costs and risks associated with farming and the need for timeliness and attention to detail. I also understand that there is a cost to not maintaining equipment, and that a grease gun is not just for decorating the shop walls but is to be used regularly. It would be nice to stay in the western IL region (Mcdonough, Hancock, and surrounding counties) but for the right opportunity I'm willing to relocate. If you have read this far I appreciate your time and if I could be of help to you or anyone you know feel free to reach out to me. You can reach out to me here or call or text *.
