Comtemplating a new commodity storage building and trying to decide if a 6 inch or 7 inch thick floor is needed. The foundation will be compacted clay loam. The building will also double as machinery storage.

If it has enough rebar in it a 6" should be fine. L shaped pieces that connect the perimeter footings with the main slab will go a lot further for strength rather than naked footings (no rebar) will.
