The FBN Calving Kit can help you:
It’s critical to set yourself up for success by being prepared this calving season.
“It’s never too early to get ready for the season that sustains ranches and farms across the world,” said Mike Galloway, rancher, farmer, and creator of Our Wyoming Life, in an unboxing video of the FBN Calving Kit. “It’s a crucial time, and having the right tools to succeed is the first step.”
It can be difficult to remember all the essentials you need and to make sure you haven’t run out of or misplaced the ones you purchased last year. The FBN Calving Kit takes the guesswork out of the purchasing process so you are ready when your cow goes into labor.
Instead of having to research and compare products one by one, you can purchase all the calving essentials together as a single purchase so you can maximize your time. Plus, you can get direct-to-farm delivery on your schedule.
“This is a one-time-order type of deal,” said Galloway. “All this comes in this handy little bucket that you can carry with you no matter how you set up your calving season.”
When you don’t know what products you need, it’s easy to overpurchase. FBN offers transparent pricing that helps you make informed purchasing decisions.
The FBN Calving Kit is also eligible for our Big Order Discount now through September 30, 2025.
The FBN Calving Kit helps you promote the health of your cows, heifers, and calves by providing the supplies you may need if your cow has dystocia (difficult calving) as well as antiseptics for cleaning minor abrasions so they don’t become infected.
“This season is of paramount importance to the overall success of livestock operations as it directly impacts the health and productivity of your herd,” said Galloway. “Having the right tools during calving becomes essential for the well being of both the animal and the farmers.”
The FBN Calving Kit includes:
OB chain, 60": Obstetrical (OB) chains, sometimes called calving chains or calf-pulling chains, are used to pull a calf out of the birth canal if the cow is experiencing a difficult labor.
OB handles: Obstetrical chain handles are attached to OB chains to help with the pulling process during delivery.
General lube, 8 oz.: This non-sterile product helps lubricate the birth canal, making it easier to get the calf out.
OB standard sleeve, 10 count: Obstetrical sleeves are worn by those assisting during calving to help protect against infection if they need to reach into a cow during a difficult birth.
Shop towels: These are used to remove residual fluids from newborn calves’ bodies, particularly ensuring their mouths and nostrils aren’t obstructed, and drying them off so they stay warm.
Iodine 1%,16 oz.: This topical antiseptic can be used to disinfect the umbilical cord to help prevent infections. It can also be used to treat minor wounds and in surgical procedures such as castration and tail docking.
Chlorhexidine solution 2%, 16 oz.: This topical antiseptic can be used on cows to help clean minor abrasions that occur during the calving process and can be used to disinfect veterinary instruments.
Allflex tag pen, black: This pen makes it easy to write the calf’s identification number on its ear tag.
Elastrator bands: When calves are just a few days old, these are used for castration.
“If I have to start calving early, and I’m not completely set up, I know that I have everything that I need right here in this calving bucket. That’s what I like about it. It’s a great way to lump everything all together, get what you need, and be set up for calving season,” said Galloway.
