Rumen microbes that ferment fiber/forage require ammonia to make protein.
Forage with less than 8% crude protein won’t supply enough ammonia to maximize fiber digestion in the rumen. Ammonia is supplied in the form NPN (non-protein nitrogen), urea in this case, to meet the ammonia requirement of fiber- fermenting microbes.
This tub provides the benefits of water soluble carbohydrates to enhance fiber digestion and microbial efficiency in the rumen and consistent intake of minerals and vitamins. Free choice salt (NaCl) should be offered with this tub.
