I have and older Valley 10 tower pivot that will stop walking periodically. Not a gearbox or motor. Has to be an alignment issue but I can't figure it out.
Any ideas?

Could be an overwatering timer. The machine will generally be straight. Not sure of exact location in your machine, but typically found in the next to last tower, the first tower, or the pivot panel.
If the machine is out of alignment when it stops, then look for a contractor or micro switch issue at the crooked tower.
Might be a contactor.. is it a specific tower?
