One of the commitments we’ve made at FBN is to do everything we can to help farmers and farming communities thrive. That’s one of the reasons we launched the FBN Community First Program for Canadian FBN members. What is the FBN Community First program? This program is a true win-win for farmers and their local communities. When Canadian farmers shop on FBN Direct®, they’ll not only have access to competitively priced input options, they’ll see a percentage of every sale donated to a project that matters to their community. So money spent in your community stays in your community. How it works A percentage of every dollar goes towards a Community First project in the geographic area where FBN Direct inputs were purchased. FBN members submit applications to raise funds for local projects in their community. If the project is chosen, you will champion the plans and efforts to result in the project’s success. Applications are reviewed bi-annually (March & October). FBN will then announce which project submissions were successful and schedule a launch meeting to kick off the project. Projects are then funded for a six-month period. Learn more about the FBN Community First Program for Canadian FBN members Successful projects* Here are just a few examples of successful projects that have been funded through the FBN Community First Program. Community centre - Atwater, SK Community First helped add a wheelchair ramp and small deck to the Atwater Community Centre. This provided a more-inclusive gathering space for the community to enjoy for years to come. (Image of Atwater Community Hall provided by Adam Littman) Train station restoration - Edam, SK The Community First program helped fix this historic 1912 built train station. This was the first building many pioneers saw when heading west. The original design was the model for train stations across western Canada until World War II. With a newly repaired roof, the station will continue to inspire new settlers to Edam. (Image of Train Station Restoration provided by Brett Blaquiere) School program - Milk River, AB The small community of Milk River may only have a population of 890 people but it's a community that is full of pride when it comes to athletics. The local high school, Erie Rivers, needed to expand its gymnasium and that’s where the Community First program came into play.  While the gym is only big enough to play basketball, the building’s space will soon be filled with passionate fans sitting in the bleachers. Go Erle Rivers Comets & Novas! How to get involved Applications will be reviewed by FBN ’s leadership team and Account Executives twice a year. Once project submissions are chosen by FBN , a launch meeting will be held to get the project started.  If your project is chosen, you will drive the plans and efforts to bring your project to life. As the project champion, you’ll be directly responsible for the success of your project with support from FBN as well. .  Submit your application to be considered for the next round. [ Learn more about Farmer2Farmer V1, our 2022 event, by clicking here . We look forward to seeing you December 6-8, 2022 in Omaha, Nebraska!] Recently, we made the hard decision to postpone Farmer2Farmer 2021. Farmer2Farmer VI will be back bigger and better in December 2022. We've heard from hundreds of farmer members who wanted to reconnect at F2F this year after a tough 18 months. With the rapidly changing health and event landscape this fall, we did not feel we could host Farmer2Farmer this winter in the way our members have come to expect. Farmers coming together for unfiltered, honest discussion and fellowship with the goal of improving the prosperity of family farms is what has made F2F a tradition for thousands of farms. When F2F comes back, we want to bring thousands of FBN® members together again, in person, with the energy, excitement, and interactions you have come to expect from F2F. Our first obligation will always be to keep our members, their families and our employees safe. Like many of you, we will miss the opportunity to come together to rekindle friendships after being disconnected for so long. We won’t compromise Farmer2Farmer by diminishing its size and the number of farmers we bring together. Instead, always guided by our network, we will double down on our efforts to drive innovation across farming for our now 30,000+ member farms. We plan to reconvene F2F next year with our biggest event ever, arming you with even more insights and benefits for your family farms. Until we meet at Farmer2Farmer VI, please reach out to fellow members online in the FBN Community, and look for upcoming local FBN events in your area with our FBN Community Builders. Have a successful harvest, and we hope to see you in your area soon! Regards, Charles Baron

We feel equal parts excitement and sadness bringing Farmer2Farmer V to close on this third and final day. For those of you who were able to make the trip to Omaha, thank you for making this our biggest and best Farmer2Farmer yet. Here’s a quick rundown of some of our favorite moments from the day: 1. Jay Hill Hyped the Crowd with a Heartfelt Message Jay Hill brought his one-of-a-kind energy and swagger to the stage as he implored the crowd to share personal stories from the farm to help other folks better understand the ag experience. The grower based out of Texas and Southern New Mexico talked about how being good stewards of our land adds to our credibility as we provide context for one of the most essential industries in the world…all while decked out in a snappy plaid jacket and the signature Jay Hill cap! 2. All Eyes Were on F2F Genetics Network ™ Seed FBN Head of Seed Ron Wulfkuhle took to the main stage to share from his own personal experience and provide context for why the F2F Genetics Network ™ is so unique in the ag industry. As he discussed ROI and performance in 2019, Ron described how a seed company developed by farmers is sparking a seed-buying revolution. He also caught everyone up to speed on some of the hot new additions to the slate for 2020—including our release of the first-ever generic Bt corn trait. 3. You Told Us Your WHY—and It Warmed Our Hearts Farmers from four Canadian provinces and close to 20 states across the U.S. stopped by our network map to share WHY they love being a member of FBN . From the basics of better prices and price transparency to leveraging data analytics to putting power back into your hands, we heard story after story about how we’re putting Farmers First® and changing the ag industry in the process.  We feel deep, sincere gratitude to be able to work alongside you to make farming better for farmers day in, day out. 4. Giving Your Operation New Possibilities Through FBN Farmer2Farmer V was an opportunity for you to connect with other farmers and recharge as we head into the next growing season. But it was also a chance for you to learn how you get even more out of your membership in the FBN network.  In sessions today, all aspects of the FBN network were on display as leading voices from FBN Direct℠ to FBN Finance and F2F Genetic Network TM gave farmers an in-depth look into service offerings and upcoming opportunities in 2020. Want to know more? Your FBN account executive can work with you to identify ways you can beat the odds next year by tapping more fully into the power of a network 9,300 farmers strong. 5. We’re Still Feeling the LOVE of Streaming LIVE Throughout the first two days of Farmer2Farmer, we provided live coverage of main stage sessions and panel discussions covering some of the hottest topics in agriculture. We heard from those of you not able to make the trip to Omaha that it was a great way to deliver the Farmer2Farmer experience to your home, so you can bet we'll be looking for ways to keep you connected with live coverage during future events. Archived segments from that marathon coverage are now available on our YouTube channel , giving you the opportunity to relive all of the biggest and best moments from Farmer2Farmer. 6. The Farmer2Farmer Experience Goes Viral There was no shortage of buzz online throughout all three days of Farmer2Farmer V.
