What corn reels do you like best for down corn?

I would highly recommend looking into a drago corn head.  Combined 2000 acres of down corn with one and no reel last year

We've had a Meteer corn reel for 15+ years when needed.... works great for us.

If a drago is not an option (very expensive)  directional harvesting and go as early as possible, it amazing what a corn head will pick up if u can get it to feed and not fall off the front.  When u got down corn yes a drago would be ideal, but in real world, down corn is already pushing our ROI into the red, does spending more money on a crop that is already loosing you $ really the best business move.  If u can find and rent a oxbow seed corn head, they are longer, less angle and designed to feed better, will prob need. Bish adapter.   This also added expense.   How bad is your snap?  50%+?   Your already farming insurance and in the red, sometimes gotta ask if Throwing good money after bad is best decision, as farmers none of us ever want to "give up" on a crop no matter the damage, but we can control the spending from time of damage to mitigate losses as best as possible.

If your looking at buying a new corn head anyway, yes go buy a drago, and use it for 3-5 years and it will be the best, but down corn is still down corn.   I'd be curious what you come up with.

The reason why I posted this question is because I sell seed along with farming and I have a customer in a bad situation. They attempted to plant corn for a 6th year in a row with only a trait for rootworm. Now they have 2 quarters of flat corn with no roots. They do own a Drago head. I am just trying to give them some ideas on how to make harvest better. Going to be tough feeding when the roots probably won't offer much of an anchor. I have a feeling that a corn reel will be needed.

I can tell you from experience that you need to really look at what the yield potential really is on that corn. The amount of dirt that will go through that machine on two quarters will basically be like 10 seasons of wear. Did it even pollinate well. My experience was it only pollinated about 30 percent
