we don’t vaccinate any but if one does get sick we will give it 5cc of baytril and 4cc of penicillin orally. Works everytime and gets them back up and going in no time.

The quantity and quality of feed is critical. A quality milk replacer should be at least 20% protein, 20% fat and less than 0.5 % fiber. My standard protocol is Nasalgen 3-PMH, Tri-Shield First Defense, dip navel with Super 7, and 4 quarts colostrum within 4 hours if possible.

vaccinate the dry cows 2x with Rota/coronavirus and E.Coli. Make sure all calves get 1 gallon of colostrum within 24 hrs of birth.

I treat all my calves going on a bottle with a 7way vaccine and draxxin especially dairy breeds those little buggers just dont have a will to live so if they get sick its a death sentence just my opinion

With our beef calves that become bottle calves (abandoned twin etc) I’ll wait to see how they’re doing after 8 hrs or so and if they need something I’ll give draxxin or the off brand of it. That’s probably my go too.
