How many of you have had spinal fusion, and has it affected your ability to farm?

I had c6-c7 fusion in 2013 after flying fighter jets for 13 years. Was out for a year to rehab and then went back to flying fighters with no issues at all. Retired last year. Farming has not impacted my spine health.

My father had neck fusion, c3-c4, this past year with a reduction in range of motion. He is 78 and he is still able to work with me on the farm.

I had a fusion over 10 years ago and still farm and why would you get a fusion when you can get a replacement I have replacements in my neck much better way to go and if you do a fusion make sure they also cut you from the front so spinial cord is completely cleaned around it have seen plenty of people have had surgery with no relief. I went to Germany for my replacement over 10 years ago because ...

After my fusion I walked a little farther everyday had 2 disc removed went into spine from the back and front so was no big issue getting back at it and I did not take any pain pills after surgery but still don’t fuse when you can replace the disc

My dad had two eight inch rods put in his lower back and was told to stay out of the tractor forever if he wanted to continue to walk. They explained to him that your spine acts like a shock absorber and that putting the rods in took away from its ability to absorb the bouncing that occurs.

My 78 year old grandpa had a couple discs fused and he still runs the tractor once in a while. I think the fusing would be better than dealing with the pain.
