Has anyone done a side by side comparison between Y drops and single drop tubes?

Thinking about setting up the sprayer to apply some of our nitrogen on corn for next year. I’ve heard some say that single drop tubes give the same results as Y drops. What have you seen on your farm?

N is a mobile nutrient. if you are wet single tubes every 60" might work but if you are dry and no moisture to wash the N in to the roots the advantage might lie with putting the N next to the row with the stem water. if you have irrigation and can turn on the water at will 1 tube in the middle every 60" and rock on. I am in a dry area and will continue to use my ydrop

We demoed a sprayer with y-drops at 60' and ran ours with drops every other row in side by side swaths. On about 60ac of comparison our every other row drops yielded 1-3bpa better. That was very surprising. We run drops on every other row and cover 90' instead of 60' and invested $500 instead of $16,000. My guess is y-drops would preform better IF you were starting to run short of N (a rescue ...

That was kind of my thoughts. We could run 90’ drop tubes and cover a lot more ground than 60’ with Y drops.
