It takes biology to break down residue. The best way is to feed the soil microbes. Nitrogen feeds some strains of bacteria and humid acid feeds others. BT corn takes longer to break down than conventional. One of the best products on the market to super charge biology and break down residue quickly is called “Bio Release” from a company called “ Bio Mineral Technologies”

Also get a little ground on top of them.
Stalk chopper, cupped paddles, a Balzer is a good machine.
Humic acid. It is a carbon which is what feeds microbes, thus speeding up residue breakdown
We used a microbial product from Nutrien Ag . Extract . Since I have put it down I’m wondering if it was a waste . I like it that it’s beneficial to the soil as well
