What is the best burndown/preemerge Rx for Milo in south central Kansas?

Last year my atrizine/dual combo didn’t hold very well.

I ran 2-4D and glyphosate with it.

I don’t have a lot of broadleaf pressure (Kochia, marestail mostly)

However I do battle grasses, particularly Johnson grass.

Any tips would be much appreciated

Thanks

I don’t grow any milo but ive looked into it. A couple years ago they were pushing some herbicide tolerant milo with some new chemical specifically for Johnson grass. If you have it established in your fields it can’t be controlled with preemerge

Local coop seed rep had a few acres of that out for the first time this year. It sounds like it’s very similar to the beyond traited wheat. However they had very limited success both on the yield side and Johnson grass control side.

Ever try the “Pint & a Pound” method in February? Pint of dicamba and pound of atrazine applied before broadleaves (kochia here) emerge. Then follow that up with valor pre plant and then dual after the planter.

It’s what a fair amount of guys locally will do. They might swap out the valor for a different residual or add Paraquat or gly for a burndown mix. Guys will use the pint & a pound for corn and fallow too. Key is to get it out before any broad leaves are germinating in the early spring. For us that usually is late Feb/early March.

I’ve never tried that, I ran 50 oz of atrizine right behind the planter
