What might be the alternatives? I'd like to keep the bees around in my area.

Bugs!!!!! Been doing a little experimenting my nephew plants a pollinators stripe in middle of field have seen some very interesting results! Sacrificing a few acres is cheaper than insecticides? Something to consider ? Just get out of the box weigh all options?
We admire your wishes to protect the pollinators. Just to clarify, Neonicotinoids are seed treatments used to control mostly secondary pests such as wireworm, grubs, seed corn beetles, etc. When used at high rate (2X) claim control of corn rootworm larvae. In my opinion this is not a viable option to control corn rootworm larvae with seed treatments.
The real problem with the Neo's is the dust ...

If you want to discuss any Agronomy topic you can also call or text the FBN Agronomy Team at 605-223-4224. Glad to help
Thank You *****, I will check it out.
Yes we do. Soybeans can and so can corn. With soybeans you dont have to pay $5 for the treatment... corn it doesnt change the price at all but you can get untreated seed of either corn or soybeans
If that’s the case does FBN offer seed corn with no seed treatment applied?
In furrow insecticide will give better protection than and insecticide seed treatment, but in furrow fungicides are not commonly used. Have to decide if the fungicide seed treatment is worth it in your area.
Question for *****, we plant quite a bit of conventional corn that is fully treated, would we get the same or maybe more benefit with naked seed (no treatment) and apply a in furrow liquid insecticide and fungicide for insects and fungus protection?
Hey that’s a good question, I would also like to help the bee guys in the area. Also wondering what different options are out there, I believe any insecticide spray application is bad for bees so we try to avoid insecticides. Also the dust coming out the bulk fill fan on a bulk fill planter is not good for bees if the seed is treated with neonics.
