I have family members putting together a new cropland lease for ground they inherited. A couple of them believe that the fertility applied should follow the university recommendations, period. And require this as part of the lease. With those soil samples and rec’s and applications paperworks sent to the landlords so they can monitor what is being done on their land.
I have personally farmed for 30 years and have not heard of anything like this, but, they do not much care for my opinions.
Would love any feedback, does anyone else do this or deal with this? Would anyone be ok with a lease with this in it?

Sounds like you need to gain their trust. If it's a crop share agreement, maybe you can convince them that there's a time to lay it on heavy, and a time to skip it all together (assuming base soil levels are good). in order to maximize income for all. And 'No', I've never heard of that demand in a lease in my 35yrs of farming. Good luck. The odds are already stacked against the tenant, try not to let it get worse!
