soil fertility rec’s and applications

I have family members putting together a new cropland lease for ground they inherited. A couple of them believe that the fertility applied should follow the university recommendations, period. And require this as part of the lease. With those soil samples and rec’s and applications paperworks sent to the landlords so they can monitor what is being done on their land.

I have personally farmed for 30 years and have not heard of anything like this, but, they do not much care for my opinions.

Would love any feedback, does anyone else do this or deal with this? Would anyone be ok with a lease with this in it?
