Raising Wheat Seed, Soybean Seed, etc.

I am interested in and want to break into raising seed for certain seed companies, but don't know where to begin. I've contacted my local co-op and they did not have much info for me on raising wheat seed or soybean seed.

Does anyone raise seed and what are the pros and cons of doing it for the producer?

How to chose what seed company to raise for? Does the seed company choose you to partner with?

We have grown 200 acres of soybeans for Remington for the last two years. Originally I just started to call and email people in Asgrow, Agrigold and Remington. We got a 60 cent premium the first year and...

Both pretty easy to work with but they do have their differences. One pays on clean bushels the other pays on gross bushels. They have different cleaning facilities to delivery to, but both are close to me. I have neighbors that have gro...

Once I was listed as a certified grower in there brochure I was contacted by company to grow soybeans. Need to talk to regional manager to get info on seed production. I now grow field peas, soybeans, wheat and rye for seed. More demand for specialty cro...

Most seed companies are finalizing seed production contracts in January. Every year there is a churn on seed producers. Pioneer, Bayer, Syngenta and Remington are the largest seed producers. Contact the area sales manager for brands associated with these companies. Keep in mind Sales and Production departments operate separately and are lousy at communicating with each other. Best chance is t...
