MFP 2.0

Question

What’s everyone’s insight on MFP. How is it going to work out? How much? What’s your opinion on it covering a vast majority of crops?

Answer

I'm on my county FSA Committee and was at a meeting yesterday.  I'm not holding my breath on MFP 2.0 because they haven't even caught up to the rules & regs needed to implement the latest Farm Bill and that process began 6 months ago.  MFP 1.0 was a simple calculation for everyone - bushels harvested x MFP rate. Straightforward and everyone knew what to expect.  Now with MFP 2.0, we are relying on "Black Box" statistics from the same crew that just posted near record "planted" corn acres last week to determine on a county-by-county basis what the $ value per acre needs to be.  Unless they release the exact data used to calculate each county, they are setting it up for a complete administrative and legal disaster.
