Have any of you used an infrared camera to locate tubing layout?

Just wondering if it would work or not if in say 6yrs I wanted to put in a car lift and want to make sure there’s no tube where an anchor bolt goes.‬

We installed in floor heat in the basement and the garage of our new home 12 years ago. We used a ground source system utilizing ground heat to both heat our home and cool in the summer. 3600 square foot home in  Minnesota- less than $10 a day of energy. The system is pricey to install however it is some of the best heat ever!! My new shop will have some type of infloor heat for sure!! Now with that said a layout of your facility is a must before laying your pipe. Also make a diagram of where pipe are located. In the end it will be worth the extra trouble.

Yes we have a map of in floor heat in our shop built in 2011 but have used infrared heat sensor to locate tubes. Can see a ten degree drop six inches away from the tubes.

Yes you can see it easily with an infrared device.  
Start with a cold floor and find the warm  tubes before the concrete gets warm.  Otherwise it gets hard to pinpoint exactly.

Do not make your runs too long. More loops less length.

You can see them but it’s not an exact science. Had a “pro” come in. He hit 3 lines.  Had to jack hammer out the area to expose the line so I could patch it. Then filled it back in. Lots of fun

Where you think it will sit in the future. Mark it with little two ft aluminum or steel flags. Then spay paint the area after concrete is set for reference
