This week's USDA Crop Progress held national corn good-to-excellent ratings at 68%, unchanged from last week, but that flat headline hides a softer Corn Belt. The big three slipped week over week: Iowa eased 2 points to 77%, Illinois fell 6 to 60%, and Ohio dropped 7 to 57%. Indiana bucked the trend, jumping 9 points to 71%, and gains across the South, led by Tennessee up 7 to 73% and Kentucky up 5 to 74%, offset the I-state declines to keep the national number flat. Corn is entering early silking and soybeans are starting to bloom, while the winter wheat harvest races ahead at 40% complete while conditions remain historically low.
