Be careful if you plan to use their conventional corn for Non-GMO contracts. It won’t pass. Had some concerning issues with my corn when I sprayed it with roundup this summer along a fence row and it didn’t die. And when it didn’t pass they pretty much said your on your own I was 90% non-gmo corn and grow specialty crops so I have a pretty extreme IP program definitely no cross contamination

Same here. I had a food grade contract i got kicked out of because samples came back way past gmo limits, neighbor got a little over the fence line on one field and hardly any of my corn even died. I bought the "purity" upcharge on my seed as well. I'm figuring with with the lost yeild and now getting kicked out of that contract the FBN seed has cost me about $60k. Not planning on planting any nex...

The expansion in the R&D program, the unique network of independent plant breeders that was highlighted in a feature article in SeedWorld today, and the direct feedback from members who have been growing the F2F hybrids is already paying off. The new launches in 2020 (F2F hybrids ending in a zero, like F2F1C-980 or F2F1G-060) are very strong performers. I don't want to turn this chat forum into ...

I joined FBN early this year to lead the seed R&D program. I want to thank you for sharing your direct feedback on the hybrids. After a career leading breeding programs for some of the largest competitors, what attracted me to FBN was the direct connection we have to growers, so we can develop better products, and better manage product placement to deliver the best return on investment for growe...

 ,

How many seasons do you anticipate it will take for f2f to have some new hybrids that will be able to compete with other leading hybrids in the industry? Is there any actions being taken to improve seed quality?

Planted the 99 day FBN against a 99day competitor and the 104 day FBN against a105 day competitor all conventional. First the seed quality was terrible. The seed had broken kernals and were pointy and looked like sweetcorn kernals. I've never planted such poor quality seed and I do plant sweetcorn too. Yield was at least 20-30bu less than the competitors in both instances and the plant height ...

Extremely disappointed with the FBN seed corn we tried. To start with the seed quality is terrible. Cracked seed, malformed, damaged seed coats. Final stand was 15,000 ppa less than are other conventional varieties. The corn that did grow had no vigor at all and was way behind all year. The plant height is extremely tall. Great for silage corn but not grain corn. Lots of residue to deal with. Test...

Planted some traited and conventional. Combine monitor yield was off 10-20 bushels on 3 side by sides with pioneer. SYngenta traits. 109 day. Very tall leafy. Shelled harder. Would make great for stalk bales/silage, but we need more grain yield to be profitable with it for grain. Mild dissatisfaction there.

FBN was off 15-20 bushel conventional(102 day) against viking Albert Lea seed. The diffe...

MF hybrid not sure which ones. 3 in a field. 170 ish average. Little less than the field of channel across the road pry 180. Beans were less than channel too.

Last year they were a little less too but still raised over 200 bu dryland.

I’m going back to traditional avenues for my seed.

I had 5 numbers in my plot, they could give it to me for free and I would not plant it..... Well the 106 day got 19th place out of 40, so that would be the only one. They are discontinuing it for 2022 so why plant it.

I planted Pioneer P27A17X ILeVO against FBN 22RL12026 ILeVO Both of these were treated to the hilt - wanted as fair as a trial as possible and the FBN beans were 6 bpa less and the field only averaged 41 bpa. 41 bpa is terrible but 35 is a train wreck. As a small farmer I can't afford to take chances like that and will wait until there is proven side by side in my state comparisons before I plant...

I will never buy the Master Farmer varieties FBN is selling again. Tried one variety in 2019 and it seemed to fair well. So, we tried two MG-C840 and MG-A869. Both of them were terrible. Some very small cobs, some with no cobs, then a half way decent one. So far they claim it may have been related to some chemical issue. I don’t think that’s it. We’ve used the same chemical system for years...

I really wish I could give F2F a good review but the reality is that in two years of planting F2F 108 it has been 20 bu. less than similar maturity Becks non-gmo hybrid and does not stand as well. I had hoped to see some new F2F hybrids this year but it appears there is not much new. I can't afford to continue to plant F2F. I hope in the future they can get some better yielding hybrids. I like th...

Still waiting to finish the last 80 acres of the K089. This still looks like a keeper in the lineup. We harvested our test plots in the conventional and traited. The conventional was the biggest let down as the plants just quit. Again, rains quitting is the reasons and I've got no control over that. The traited plot came out better than I expected and had a surprise for me. The MRZ-Q010 which is t...

if we have the moisture we can hit up to 120bu. Those years are rare though. There are several producers at this end of the county with 70-80bu APH on corn, most guys consider it a success if you hit 50bu. We have some fields with an APH 65-68, but most are lower than that.

This year I’d say half our corn got 5” from March to August, 1/4 got around 7-8” and the last 1/4 8-10” with half of...

What can you yield at 13k-14k population on a good year? We planted 24k here in Southwestern Colorado and was able to irrigate it a couple times but then ran out of water and most of it burned up. How much total precipitation would you say you got for your corn this year?

Verified FBN Member (NE)

MBZ-T159 took it to feedlot and picked wet. Very pleased with this number and planting more next year. Was 30 bu better than the LG next to it.

Pivot irrigated

104 day corn did decent, comparable to the Wyffles number that was next to it. 102 day corn was an absolute boat anchor. We got very hot and dry so maybe I'm being a little hard on it, however some Pioneer in the same field did substantially better. I plan to plant more of the 104 next year.

The worst one we’ve tried has been the P019. The base option of it. Flat out terrible. Their T999 looked great until rains quit. K089 jury is still out on. Did great last year, been so so this year, again rains stopping disrupt a lot. That’s my biggest complaint is their hybrids will take some stress but they don’t tolerate a lot. We’ve planted Dekalb EB stuff that has handled stress better. Hopef...

Pretty much the same as  . I will say the 92 day beat the $250/bag Pioneer (101) that was right beside it. The 104 day was a touch worse than the Pioneer but I think 1 rain would have changed the entire equation.

Drought shut ours down. Shut down a lot of guys corn in the area regardless of the brand. Out of 9 qtrs, 3 won’t be harvested, just adjusted out. 5 ran 22-35bu/ac (55-80bu range is normal) and 1 actually caught some rains and will be close to the 55 mark. Pretty disappointing year for corn here when up until end of July it looked like we could hit a home run. Rains stopped & heat came and kernels ...
