22 year old farming on my own for 3 years corn and soybeans in southwest Michigan just curious what other people do or tips and tricks to getting more rented acres farming about 200 now not looking to be the biggest guy around my goal for the upcoming years is 750-900 acres

Do the best job farming that you can, and remember that the neighbors farming 3k acres have been at the business a long time. Keep your ear to the ground and make connections with EVERYONE you can. You never know which leaf is hiding the prize until you turn it over. It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

I have looked on auditor site on land owners and sent letters letting them know I was interested in renting from them. Granted didnt include a price just if your looking for a change I would be interested to talk with you. I also have some signs around Wanted tillable land for rent with my #. Then make a stop at coffee shops and talk with older farmers where they hang out and let them know and spread the word.  Granted I haven't had any luck getting more ground but do what you can to spread the word hopefully some one will see it and get ahold of you.
