Planter closing wheels

Here in NE I don't think you'll have problem with 2. In my perspective you want as much symmetry on each row when conditions permit. We ran one wheel of Furrow cruiser and one rubber wheel last year with good results. We went that route because it showed in different plot trials that one spiked wheel was was about as much bushel advantage as having two but with half as much investment.

I used a different brand of closing wheel, but when I ran two spiked closing wheels I had trouble with rocks about the size of your fist getting wedged in between The wheels. That would then kick the seeds out of the trench. I took off one of the spiked and replaced it with a rubber wheel and that helped a lot but still pick up an occasional rock. I also had trouble with chick weed getting tangled...
