There's been a lot of recent chatter about instances of Tar Spot ramping up so in this week’s Pest Poll we asked FBN Members what they’ve been seeing. The map below shows all responses by county, with orange being those who say they HAVE seen Tar Spot.
PLEASE NOTE: These are instances reported by FBN Members and not always “confirmed cases” so please consult local extension or your FBN representative if you have questions about what you are seeing in your fields.
I’ve included a screenshot below of the most recent reporting from The Crop Protection Network (CPN) which documents scouted and confirmed cases. In most instances, FBN reports align with what’s been reported elsewhere with the exception of FBN reported instances extending into parts of Minnesota and the Dakotas. This is similar to the trend we saw last year when initial reports from Nebraska spread northward relatively rapidly as summer progressed.
For tips on how to treat Tar Spot I’ve linked to a great resource from CPN HERE. You can also find how to report your cases on the site as well.
Should you select a treatment for Tar Spot we’d encourage you to take a look at our Prothioconazole (1.46) + Trifloxystrobin (1.25) Value Pick which contains the same active ingredients as Delaro® 325 SC Fungicide. You can also use the NEW Fungicide Finder Toll which is located in our Crop Protection page on FBN.com.
Thanks to the more than 700 members who responded to this week’s poll and please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can be of further assistance!
