I’ve inherited a farm in Aurora county South Dakota but live in Tennessee. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of price per acre for farm land there or can you recommend a good appraiser? Thanks

I've used Maas and Associates in Parkston for appraisals in the past.  Land prices have appreciated tremendously over the past 20 years.  You need a professional appraisal just to establish your new basis, even if you don't want to sell now.

looks like average is 115 per acre.

Have you asked the current renter/tenant?  Some would say that the sale price should be set by that life long caretaker (renter/farmer).  The price should be something that he/she can afford to pay; not a ridiculously inflated price set by outside investors or greedy land management companies.  Bottom line; the tenant should be extended the same benevolence that he/she has provided to the land and previous generation.  Food for thought.
