Hybrid Fall Rye what is everybodys opinion on it ?

Has anybody seeded hybrid fall rye in the past ..what was your experience with it and how did it yield

Yielded about 7o bushels.  Conventional rye typically yields 50 here.

We only have one year of experience here in south-central Minnesota. We seeded it on October 15, which was two weeks later than the dropdead date recommended to us. Into the soybean stubble. Very little fall growth, usually not a concern with winter rye. Spring and summer was very dry. Ended up at 70 bushels an acre. We were hoping for 100. A neighbor has planted hybrid  for several years and is always at 100 or more. He works hard to finish seeding  before October 1. 
I believe the best we ever did with small patches of straight varietal Rye was 45 bushels. Downside is we can’t save it for Seed. Upside is we get a lot more bushels to sell into the grain markets.

Here in SE Sask it has been grown with pretty good results. We have looked at it but have been selling our regular rye into a cover crop market which with hybrid we cant sell. Rye bids I get show a discount for hybrid rye to conventional rye because of no cover crop market. Its good for every other market. I expect we will grow it at some point.
