There are many resources available to military veterans interested in learning about farm programs. Whether you’re just getting started and want to upskill through an educational veteran farmer program or are already an established farmer or rancher looking to grow your ag operation through farming grants for veterans or USDA veteran farm loans, we've curated a list of resources and farming programs for veterans to help you strategize your next steps.

In this blog, we’ll cover:

Financial Resources

Veteran farm grants and veteran farm loans can help beginning farmers as well as those seeking to make improvements to their facilities or expand their current ag operations. FBN® offers funding solutions to qualified applicants, including land loans, equipment loans, and operating lines

Educational and Training Resources

There are several paths veterans can take to gain education, training, and mentorship for pursuing a career in agriculture.

The USDA, its numerous partners, and independent channels offer agricultural education and programs to help veterans expand their ag knowledge. These include:

Business Planning Resources

Ag operational management, among other responsibilities, includes purchasing farmland, hiring and managing workers, maintaining equipment, marketing grain, and building a farm budget. We offer a wide range of free guides and resources to help veterans make informed business decisions in those areas.

Financial and business planning courses can help military veteran farmers establish and maintain successful farming or ranching businesses. There are veteran farming programs as well as resources that are applicable to veterans but serve the community at large. These include:
